Artie Yellowhorse is a Navajo silversmith whose documented range runs from classic to contemporary across multiple styles — shadowbox, twisted wire, exotic stones, in silver and gold.
The Hougart entry reads like a family roster, and it is worth setting down whole. She is the sister of Juan, Shush, Frank Yellowhorse, John, Mary Ann, Jane, Gloria Yellowhorse, and Betty Yellowhorse; aunt of Alvin Yellowhorse, Steve, Stewart, and Ron Yellowhorse; and mother of Desiree Yellowhorse and Lei Lani Klutke. Also working with her are grandsons Dominic Kontur and James Crabtree. Of that roster, only Frank, Gloria, and Alvin have directory pages so far.
Collector's caution: One of her documented marks is shared: Y H S L, a collaboration with her sister Susie Lee (not yet in the directory) in the late 1980s to early 1990s. A piece bearing Y H S L is joint work from that window — not a solo Artie Yellowhorse attribution. Her own name mark may also appear with a © symbol.
