Jose Massie — Zuni silversmith hallmark namecard

Name-card placeholder — hallmark imagery to follow.

Overview

Jose Massie (born 1943; Hougart records him as deceased without printing a year) was a Zuni artist active since the 1970s, known for inlay sun face symbols and owls. He shared his stamp with his wife Dora Massie, and his grandson is Bryant Othole, an inlay artist in his own right.

Collector's caution: The J. D. MASSIE stamp was shared between Jose and his wife, Dora Massie — the initials themselves carry both names. Read it as the couple's mark; the stamp alone does not separate their hands.
