Overview

Jimmy Harrison (born 1952) is a Navajo artist active since the 1970s, making contemporary inlay jewelry — stone-to-stone and mosaic inlay in silver and gold. He studied with Preston Monongye, with some inlay collaboration in the early 1980s while working at Joe Tanner’s shop, and with Jesse Monongya. He is a multiple award winner.

His marks include "J H" inside a circle, a Navajo symbol, or a horned moon symbol; "Jim Harrison" in script; and "HAND MADE."

Collector’s caution: Three different Navajo makers in this directory can be confused here: Jimmy Harrison (this page), James Harrison — a separate Hougart entry (stamp work, nugget sets, shadowbox) whose mark is a plain "J H" — and Harrison Jim, whose surname is Jim. A bare "J H" stamp alone does not settle attribution between the two Harrisons; look for the enclosing circle, Navajo symbol, or horned-moon border that mark Jimmy’s work.
