Jim Paywa — Zuni silversmith hallmark namecard

Name-card placeholder — hallmark imagery to follow.

Overview

Jim Paywa is a Zuni silversmith active since the 1980s, working in inlay, with rings a documented specialty. He is the son of Bowman Paywa.

Collector's caution: The scan of Hougart's entry garbles both the headword and the first mark — the mark prints as "J. PAY'NA." We read it as J. PAYWA on the strength of the clean companion mark JIM PAYWA and the entry's own line naming him son of Bowman Paywa, but treat the exact form of the shorter stamp with care until checked against the printed page.

The Mark

"[headword garbled in scan — prints '- u n i )'] . Active since 1980s. Inlay; rings. Son of Bowman Paywa. Marks: J. PAY'NA [scan garble — read as J. PAYWA]; JIM PAYWA"

The marks as documented in the Hougart corpus: J. PAYWA (scan prints J. PAY'NA); JIM PAYWA.
